In 2007 a Leicester based women’s charity, LeicestHERday, made Alice Hawkins their honorary patron and commemorated the centenary of her first arrest and imprisonment at the International Women’s Day conference.
Since then the charity has raised funding for a book to be published of Alice’s struggle for the vote, ‘Alice Hawkins and the Suffragette Movement in Edwardian Leicester ‘ and in 2008 gained £50,000 of lottery funding for the ‘Alice Hawkins Project’.
