Alice Meets Lloyd George

These newspaper photographs catch the very moment in 1913 when Alice, along with a small deputation of women from different trades, met with cabinet minister Lloyd George to put the working women of the country’s demand for the vote.

During the meeting Alice addressed Lloyd George directly telling him that her two sons, one in the Army and one in the Navy, had the vote yet the women who had brought them into the world had no say and was 'looked down on'.
